Meet our WomenHeart@Work Stars, Angela Hammond and Stephanie Hammar

This year during American Heart Month, WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease held its very first WomenHeart@Work Challenge. We asked all WomenHeart Champions to host 5 or more WomenHeart@Work events in their community in order to spread awareness and the importance of heart health in the workplace. Well the results are in and we would like to to congratulate this year’s very first 2016 WomenHeart@Work American Heart Month Challenge Winners, Stephanie Hammer, Class of 2010 & Angie Hammond, Class of 2012!

Both Angie and Stephanie have gone above and beyond to spread heart health awareness in a place where so many of us spend more than one-third of our day—work! Check out why Angie and Stephanie believe the WomenHeart@Work program is important.

“I find WomenHeart@Work important because you reach out to a group that experiences different stress levels in their position of employment.  WomenHeart provides valuable information and tools to managing stress.  It brings employees together to discuss their concerns about their stress and heart health.  The floor is open for employees to share their thought and questions.”

“WomenHeart@Work is one of the best ways to incorporate our WomenHeart mission all at once. By telling our personal story and covering some key statistics, it alerts the participant to make that crucial doctor appointment to take charge of their own health! The explanation of risk factors and "what you can do" creates the empowerment of partnering with their doctor for prevention or proper treatment specific to them. And, best of all, it puts our words in to action by visually and literally displaying stress reduction and wellness ideas to implement in their workplace!”
