Meet Evan McCabe, Board Chair

Evan McCabe is a 2007 WomenHeart Champion, a former WomenHeart District Leader, a current heart research patient, and a political advocate. She has advocated for heart disease at the local, state, and national level, and is especially interested in advocating for the funding of women’s heart health research. Evan is a seasoned public speaker, and has had ample experience with all forms of media interviewing.

Evan is the co-leader of WomenHeart of Santa Barbara, and focuses on supporting women, as well as educating healthcare professionals in her community. She expects to bring her 37 years of experience as a Cardiology RN and Nurse Educator, and offer new ideas to capture as many women as possible about WomenHeart’s message. Throughout her career, she has worked as an Advanced Practice RN, Community Health Educator, Cardiac Rehabilitation RN, and most recently as a Nurse Educator. Evan just retired from being an Associate Professor of Nursing at Santa Barbara City College for the past 22 years. Her undergraduate BSN was from Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles, and graduate degree as a Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist at UCLA.

The sincere reason that she wants to fight for better heart health for women is that she has two beautiful young adult daughters. Evan is hoping that research studies will be funded to help them out before they develop heart disease.
